Sustainable Tourism

According to United Nation Environment Program(UNEP) and United Nation World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), sustainable tourism is defined as “tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities.” It does not refer to a specific type of tourism, rather it is an aspiration for the impacts of all forms of tourism to be sustainable for generations to come. Other than that, sustainable tourism also known as responsible tourism.

Learn more about Sustainable Tourism/ Responsible Tourism.

Sustainable tourism products are created in a way that benefits the environment, community, and cultures rather than causing serious damage to tourism development. The resort, which works entirely on solar power, recycles rainwater, follows a low-waste strategy, and incorporates craftsmanship such as furnishings and artwork created by local villagers, is an example of sustainable tourism.

The following are the major duties of sustainable tourism:

Environment, natural resources, and animal protection

Providing economic advantages to populations living around tourist attractions

Cultural heritage preservation and giving an authentic tourism experiences

Bringing local communities and tourists together for mutual gain

Creating tourist opportunities that are inclusive and accessible.

So, the importance of sustainable tourism should be practiced aimed at making truly sustainable and responsible tourism should make better destinations for people to live in as well as visit.

One of connection with sustainable tourism is FOREST TOURISM.

It can be defined as forest-covered environments also provide important timber for fuel and construction. Exploring forests and other wild places can help people gain a better knowledge and appreciation for nature. As a result, environmental conservation becomes more important.

Forest tourism has already established itself as one of the fastest growing divisions of the tourism industry in the state. It has evolved into a tool for promoting forestry management and assisting local communities.

Tourists can see and engage with local plant and animal species in their natural settings by travelling throughout this region's forest arena. The experience is indescribable, and the intangible psychological advantages of visiting are immeasurable. Even those who are uninterested in forest life and nature will be able to appreciate the essence of these.

In addition to succeed in forest tourism, Dynamic School Program wants to succeed in promoting sustainable. It is to make students aware of the environment. So, we create a plan about planting tree. Its also suitable to all suitable age for student and teacher. One day, we also hope that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will join and doing some community for this.

Why planting tree is so important?

The world's forests store carbon and provide oxygen, but they are under threat. Tree-planting has become a cornerstone of many environmental campaigns in recent years. The call to plant trees is everywhere, seen as a simple and effective way to help reduce the impact of carbon emissions and restore natural ecosystems.

Some short briefing idea for Planting Tree:

1. Get the right tree in the right place and ensure quality over quantity. This approach may require more initial investment per tree, but will yield larger-growing, healthier, long-lived trees that provide environmental, social and health benefits.

2. Prioritize education, training and community engagement

🌲Support Adopt-a-Tree programs that engage citizens in care of public trees

🌲Provide education and training for private property owners/managers as an integral part of all planting initiatives

🌲Support efforts of neighborhood tree groups and Friends of Parks groups

 🌲Engage youth

Other than planting tree, we also teach about Recycle, Reduce and Reuse to school programmed by giving a short talk/speech.

3R

Reduce: Reduction of waste generation, don’t be wasteful. Reduce garbage.

Reuse: Reuse of products and parts, Use things again and again.

Recycle: Use of recycled resources, Recycle resources for reuse.

In the way of promote sustainable tourism under forest tourism, we must do a session by using a pouch than plastic disposable. We change the product like mineral water using plastic packaging and changed it to pouch. Minimal and effective way. We also give carbon footprint certificate as souvenir to student.

The main distinction between forest tourism and ecotourism is their interaction with nature. Usually, forest tourism is less concerned with the well-being of local people but focusing in environmental protection, whereas ecotourism aims to have the least possible influence on people and the environment.

Another connection with sustainable tourism is ECOTOURISM.

Ecotourism has the potential to help both conservation and long-term development in the Heart of Borneo (HoB) region. Ecotourism development is an essential component of any initiative aimed towards the Heart of Borneo (HoB). The goal of ecotourism in the HoB is to promote socioeconomic development in the HoB areas, particularly among the local people. The woods of Sabah are rich in flora and fauna. Sabah now has six environmental conservation parks, comprising three land parks and three underwater parks, for ecotourism development. Here's the list:

 Kinabalu National park
Sustainable Tourism Introduction Crocker Range National park
 Tawau Hills park
 Turtle islands National park
 Tunku Abdul Rahman National park
 Pulau Tiga National park

For this ecotourism had a connection with our programmed which is Product 3 Dynamic's School Programmed between students and teacher at Tawau Hills Park. This programmed helps those who participate cope with the pressure steadily, because it will give them a positive mental attitude and also to test their physic limits and will help them to know more about own capabilities or capacity. This programmed like this also helps in determining the hidden talents that parents or the individual he/herself did not know they poses.

Tawau Hill Park Program

What are the educational programmers' goals?

Education may be used to teach a variety of topics, including facts, step-by-step procedures, and soft skills such as teamwork. As a result, it should recognize the fact that there are many methods for teaching and assessing these varied forms of learning.

Based on my experience, I had a school trip to visit Teck Guan Cocoa Museum, Tawau. At there, I got to learned about the process of chocolate also history about Teck Guan. When learning about the chocolate process, it can give us knowledge also give a good memory to students. So, I believe that with a visiting a place while learning like this is able to give a good impact to students especially in their learning as well. They will get more benefit like have more opportunities in their lives, and tend to be healthier. In addition, societies benefit as well. Societies with high rates of education completion have lower crime, better overall health, and civic involvement.

With the various benefits available, Dynamic would like to recommend the education program "Study Tour on Palm Oil Processing".
